Tyrosinemia
The ‘building blocks’ of protein are called amino acids. In Tyrosinemia, due to the lack of an enzyme the body cannot properly deal with the amino acids tyrosine and phenylalanine. Therefore, people with Tyrosinemia need to severely restrict the amount of protein eaten.
A key element in the management of Tyrosinemia is the use of formula that provides all the amino acids found in protein but with little or no tyrosine and phenylalanine. PKU formulas support adequate intake of protein in combination with the small allowance of regular dietary protein.
Vitaflo North America offers a wide range of formulas for the dietary management of Tyrosinemia from childhood through adulthood. If you have additional questions about Vitaflo’s range of products, please feel free to contact us.
